New Delhi: Spring is setting in. After a prolonged spell of excruciatingly chilly winter, it's now time to chill. For the people living in Delhi and its adjoining cities and towns, what could be a better place to chill out than the Mughal Gardens.

The gardens at the heart of the President's Estate will be open for the public from February 5 as was announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan through a statement issued on Sunday.

The iconic garden in full bloom is a treat for the eyes. It will remain open for the general public from 10 am to 4 pm till March 8, except on Mondays. On Mondays, the Mughal Gardens will be closed for the public for maintenance. Gate No. 35 of the garden is designated for entry and exit of the visitors during the stipulated time period.

Last year the Mughal Gardens recorded 5.18 lakh footfalls while the number of visitors it received every year since 2003 stands at 3-6 lakh. The Garden will open a day after the annual "Udyanotsav" of Rashtrapati Bhavan on February 4.

Bulbous flowerings are the main attraction of this year's "Udyanotsav" apart from Tulips and Exotic flowers. At least 10,000 Tulips in vivid colours of red, orange, white, and yellow mixed with red and pink are set to bloom this month phases.

Another major attraction of the Garden will be Flower Carpets. The magnificently designed carpets on display in the central lawns showcase the craftsmanship of the gardeners of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

White, yellow, red and orange are part of the dominant colour scheme of this year's ornamental flowers.

As usual, a cactus corner has been landscaped with a wide variety of small but beautiful cactus and succulents. Air purifying plants have also been showcased in the Garden, according to the Rashtrapati Bhawan statement.
