Mercury soaring, so are cases of viral fever, flu

Delhi: With the mercury soaring in the National Captial there is an increase in the cases of viral fever and flu. A number of patients visiting government and private hospitals are complaining of high fever and sore throat.

This is the seasonal flu which can be avoided with a few precautions.

Dr Rajesh Taneja, general physician at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, said, “Children and senior citizens are vulnerable to weather related diseases. Changing weather also causes spread of viruses.”

“We are asking people to take care of themselves when they are in public places,” said Dr Taneja.

People should cover their mouth and wear a mask to prevent themselves from getting infected. Senior citizens should get Waxigrip vaccination, a seasonal vaccine (one should get this vaccination done to protect themselves from seasonal viruses).

Another general physician Dr Atul Gogai from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said, “As the season tends to change, one starts wearing summer clothes which is wrong as the body takes time to adapt to the change.”
