Corona alert: 23 Ghaziabad residents untraceable after returning from China

Ghaziabad: 23 of the 152 residents of the city, who returned from China recently, have gone missing. The residents were found untraceable by the health department officials.

The officials have not found the repatriates at the addresses the district administration provided to them. The teams of the health department are on a hunt for the missing persons.

"These people (who could not be traced by the health officials) were not found at the addresses we received from the administration. Their neighbours told us that they had shifted to other addresses. We are searching for them," an official said on condition of anonymity.

However, the department has screened the remaining 129  and found none of them infected with coronavirus.

Chief Medical Officer NK Gupta told CitySpidey that the department constituted 12 teams which included officials from WHO as well. Gupta said that the teams are on contacting each resident on a trip to China in the last 28 days. "As a preventive measure, we have advised them to stay in isolation for a few days," he informed.

On Friday, a 27-year-old woman visiting her friend in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram was quarantined by the health department suspecting coronavirus. Her blood samples were sent to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi for further tests.

The woman was quarantined at her Indirapuram flat itself, a TOI report said. She had complained of severe body ache and flu-like symptoms.
