Gurugram: The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has made it mandatory for all the hospitals and clinics operating in the district to treat bio-medical waste.
The hospitals and clinics will be required to sign an agreement with an authorised biotech company located at Sector-37, Gurugram, and then obtain an authorisation certificate from the regional office of HSPCB for the same.
Kuldeep Singh, Regional Officer, HSPCB, said that the health care units operating in the district have been asked to get the authorisation certificate under the bio-medical waste rules within seven days from the regional office of HSPCB.
“These units have been sent letters through the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Dental Association and have been requested to take authorisation certification. Strict legal actions will be taken against those health care units not adhering to the rules.”
Around 583 health care units have been identified in the district, which do not have authorisation certificate for getting bio medical waste treatment which is mandatory for them to obtain.
“They have been asked to get the certificate within seven day failing which will warrant strict legal action against them,” Singh said.
