Noida: Residents’ pleas fail to stir authority, drain remains open

Noida: An open drain in Sector 101 has become a major cause of concern among residents of the area and passersby. The residents here say several complaints made by them to the Noida Authority have gone unheeded.

The problem has gone from bad to worse even as the authority is sitting on the complaints of the residents. No response is forthcoming from the administration as yet.

Speaking to CitySpidey, an employee of Prakash Honda, a showroom located right in front of the drain, says "Visitors to our showroom complain of bad odour and advise us to get it repaired."

During rains, the drain overflows and the stench spreads in the entire area. The nauseating smell lingers on a week after the rain.

A food outlet close to the U-turn has lost many of its valuable customers. The owner blames the irresistible smell emanating from the drain for the loss.

Swapnil, a resident of Salarpur area, said, "It’s our humble appeal to the authority to cover the drain. It is not just about the smell. What worries us is that anybody can fall into the drain. "
