New Delhi: Weather experts have predicted that winter chill would subside by February 13 as both night and day temperatures in the city are likely to come closer to normal.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions around Monday as the minimum temperature over the next two days is likely to hover around 5 and 6 degrees Celsius against a normal of 10 degrees Celsius. The IMD has said that the minimum temperature this month is likely to stay around 10 degrees Celsius or above.

A cold wave condition is declared when a meteorological subdivision sees a minimum temperature of fewer than 4 degrees Celsius below normal in at least two stations for two days.

The minimum temperatures are likely to rise to 15-16 degrees Celsius by late February unlike last year when cold conditions lasted longer than usual. Last year, late February and early March recorded minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.
