Embarking on a vacation abroad? Here are some tips to ease your travel

No matter how much you have travelled in your own country, you still want to go abroad for vacation. You may find the same beaches, hills, snowcapped mountains, landscape etc., but a global sojourn will always be on your wish list.

But before visiting an entirely alien place you never explored, you need to do proper research and planning. Regardless of your destination, there are certain international travel tips you need to follow to ease your overseas journey.

Here are some of these tips to make ease your journey and make the trip enjoyable and memorable.

Passport

Before you plan your international trip, you should always check the expiry date on your passport. Several countries will deny you entry if your passport expires in less than six months.

Arrange finances well

Plan your expenses well in advance. Take some cash with you. Use forex cards as they are safer to carry and cheaper compared to debit and credit cards.

Safety

Keep some emergency numbers handy. Avoid keeping cash and cards at one place. Leave some in your hotel. Also, do not keep valuables in your back pocket. Keep a digital copy of all your travel documents including the passport.

Familiarise with the Culture

Research well about the country you visit so you can get an idea of its culture and traditions. It would be good if you learn the basics of the local language like hello, thank you, please and hand gestures used in the county of your destination. Keep a map of the city handy on your phone.

Smart Packing

Don’t overpack and carry clothes according to the weather of the country. Research well about the weather conditions. Weigh your suitcase after stuffing it will all belongings. Know the baggage limits as different airlines have different baggage allowance. Use zip-lock bags to stuff all your electronic gadgets like a cell phone charger, camera charger, adaptors, headphones, etc.

Book Everything in Advance

To avoid last minute hassles, make all your travel arrangements, like flight tickets, accommodation, local transport, sightseeing, valid visa (if a visa is not on arrival) and international roaming mobile packs or SIM cards, in advance. You might get discounts if you make bookings in advance.

Travel Insurance

In case you fall sick on your trip, getting medical treatment is very expensive. In such a case travel insurance comes to your help not only for medical care but also covers flight delays, baggage loss and cancellations.
