Rangoli made easy: Visit Surajkund Mela for stencils, pens, rollers

Faridabad: You love rangoli, but find it hard to make it yourself. Don't worry, with the help of stencils and other paraphernalia you can make beautiful rangoli within seconds. For these, you have to visit the ongoing Surajkund Mela. 

Rangoli Kala Kendra, one of the stalls at the fair, has rangoli stencils and other unique materials which will make your task of making rangoli easy. Equip with the stuff to be used on Diwali or any other occasion. 

These stencils are made by a group of women belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) sections of the society from the Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The price of the stencils range from Rs 50 to 150. 

Earlier, the making of rangoli used to take more than two hours. But now it can be done in a few minutes, no matter how big it is. Also, one need not excel in art and have no knowledge about it. 

“Preoccupied with many household works, young women are least interested in art. They want machines to do everything for them. So, we have made these stencils for them. You don't need to have knowledge about the art for using these stencils,” said an exhibitor, Rajendra Lalawat from Ujjain.

Apart from the stencils, there are rollers and pens. Rajendra described the pen as one of the most unique items for making rangoli. 

Using roller, one can get a better flow which can't be done with fingers. 

Rajendra believes that the stencils will ease ones work, but one loses the art of his/her hand. 

Rangoli is usually made on festivals and any such occasion when one has several other chores to do at home. But rangoli alone takes a lot of time leaving little for other tasks. With the help of these items one can decorate their homes with rangoli and can spare time for other activities too. 

This season's Diwali has gone. But as the time flies the arrival of next Diwali will take you by surprise. So, if you want to be prepared for the occasion, head to the Surajkund and grab the beautiful stencils before the closure of fair on February 16. Mind it, these items are available only at fairs and exhibitions.
