GreNo West: Residents submit list of dark spots to authority

Greater Noida: Residents of Greater Noida West have identified as many as 16 dark spots in the area which needs immediate attention because people get a sense of fear while passing through these spots. A team of residents led by Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) prepared a list of these dark spots and submitted it to the Greater Noida Authority.

The association has submitted the list of dark spots to the Greater Noida Authority for seeking its immediate attention on the matter.

Abhishek Kumar, head of NEFOWA, talking to CitySpidey said, “On Sunday night, residents collectively made visits on roads along with service lanes which are in frequent use of the residents and have found 16 dark spots. We have submitted our findings to the authority and the police as well.”

Undoubtedly, absence of adequate streetlights on roads and connected services lanes have been a serious concern for the residents living in newly developed residential town of Greater Noida West. To get attention of the concerned authorities, the residents have time and again raised their concerns on social media too.

Manish Kumar, a resident of Arhinat Arden, who have been actively putting this issue before the concerned authorities said, “People working till late in the night do not feel safe when they pass these dark spots but they really don’t have any choice but to put their lives at risk while passing through these spots. We call it a developed and hi-tech city which accommodates and gives opportunity to lakhs of people to earn livelihood but such dark spots are also the a reality of this city.”

Kumar added, “On Wednesday, when we met the authority officials and handed over our list of dark spots, we were updated that tenders have already being floated for putting streetlights at some of these places and many are under process. All these dark spots are being addressed and lights would be installed soon.”
