Dwarka: The park located between Sanghmitra Apartments of Sector 4 and Ratnakar Apartments of Sector 4 is in a bad shape. Damaged walkways, growth of wild bushes, uneven surface, damaged fencing, garbage dump and horticulture waste make the park a blot on the ambience of the two societies.
Owing to its desolate state the park does not seem to be in use by the residents of the nearby societies. According to residents, the park is in the same state for long. Ex-president of Sanghmitra Apartments, Saji Joseph, said, "The park should be well-maintained so that people could use it properly."
The residents complain that since the park is unlit it has become a den of antisocial elements and hence a security threat to the adjacent societies. RK Sharma, a resident of Ratnakar apartments said, "Boards with rules and regulations for using the park can be seen installed in it by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) even though no one uses the park except hooligans. They consume alcohol or drugs here. If the park had been maintained properly, such activities would not have taken place in it."
going by the notice boards installed in the park, Horticulture Department of the SDMC is responsible for its upkeep. But the condition of the park is a tell-tale proof of the callous attitude of the department towards its duty.
