Coronavirus: Delhi govt identifies over 5,700 persons who travelled to China

New Delhi: The Delhi government has identified more than 5,700 people who travelled to China between January 15 and February 13. Out of these, 17 have been hospitalised, while around 4,700 have been asked to stay at home.

A total of 3,853 people were screened by doctors at IGI Airport on Thursday. Blood samples of the 406 quarantined persons are being sent for final testing at the Chhawla ITBP facility following which a decision will be taken on their discharge.

It has been 12 days since these people, including seven Maldives nationals, were shifted to the camp after they returned on February 1 and 2. They were kept in isolation after being evacuated from Wuhan in China amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Blood samples of 200 people were sent for testing on Thursday, while the remaining will be sent on Friday. Two were shifted to Safdarjung Hospital after they complained of cough and fever.

Talking to Indian Express, ITBP spokesperson Vivek Pandey, said that the reports will come after 15 days through the Indian Council of Medical Research after which the decision by the authorities would be taken.

Two people, an 18-year-old male who travelled to China from November 15 to February 1 and a 23-year-old male who was in Bangkok, Thailand, from February 7 to 13, have been admitted in the isolation ward of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for suspected coronavirus infection.
