Ghaziabad: The Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of Shipra Sun City has renamed the main square of the society as “Shaheed Chowk” in order to pay tribute to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who got killed in Pulwama attack last year.
“The AOA of Phase I of the Indirapuram-based society announced the renaming of the chowk in an event organised on Friday evening to pay homage to the personnel of paramilitary force who lost their lives in the Pulwama Attack,” said Anurag Ranjan, an executive member of the AOA.
Ranjan said that the event witnessed gathering of more than 100 residents. “We lit candles and remembered the slain security personnel who lost their lives because of terrorism. We renamed the square as Shaheed (martyr) because they died in the line of duty,” he added.
In one of the most deadliest terror attack on security forces, at least 44 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and another 22 were injured when terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad's terrorist attacked them on February 14, 2019.
The terrorist drove an explosive-laden SUV into the convoy of vehicles carrying the CRPF troops on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in South Kashmir's Pulwama district.
