Ghaziabad: For the next six months, residents of Indirapuram are expected to spend extra hours on the road as they have will have to battle it out with additional traffic. The traffic is bound to increase with the water Corporation of Ghaziabad shutting down a lane of the CISF Road for some maintenance work.
The corporation started laying an underground water pipeline on Saturday on the lane of the CISF Road that connects Vasundhara to NH 9 at Chajjarsi Chowk is being diverted. However, another lane of the road from NH 9 to Vasundhara and Mohan Nagar will remain open for the traffic.
Officials informed that a temporary U-turn before Kanawani puliya has been built for the diversion of traffic coming from Vasundhara. The traffic police advised motorists to divert from the Kanawani Puliya to Kala Pathhar Road and Gaur Chowk Avenue in order to reach NH 9 and Delhi/Noida subsequently.
Development Plan
In Shakti Khand IV of Indirapuram, there are three sewage treatment plants (STP) each from the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC), Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and Water Corporation each. The STPs of the GDA and the GMC have a capacity of 56 MLD each while the STP of Water Corporation can treat 74 MLD water.
Collectively, all the three STPs treat 18 crore and 60 lakh litre of sewage water to be carried via a storm drain running on the margin of the CISF Road to another drain that lies on the corner of the NH 9. After that, the water is dumped into Harnandi River.
The officials said that the capacity of the drain at the CISF Road is insufficient to carry the large amount of treated water. This leads to water logging in the area during monsoons. To deal with this situation, Water Corporation decided to lay the pipeline to carry the STP water 20 feet below the CISF Road.
Potential Sufferers
Shutting down of the lane is going to hugely impact autorickshaw service that ferry commuters from Vasundhara to Noida and back through the CISF Road. Office-goers will have to face enormous difficulties during this period. Besides, schoolchildren residing in Ahinsa Khand II have to suffer as the buses will not be able to enter the area after the road is closed.
The diversion on the CISF Road will also increase pressure on vehicular traffic at Mangal Chowk, Aditya Mall Road, Kala Patthar Road, Shukra Bazar Chowk, Shipra Underpass, Sai Mandir Chowk and Nyay Khand.
