Noida: Residents of Noida observed the martyrdom day on February 14, a day on which over 40 Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) jawans died in a terrorist attack in Pulwama, Kashmir.

Though it was Valentine Day too, the mood in Sector 29, Noida where people gathered to pay homage to the martyred jawans was one of somber.

According to the residents, office-bearers of Janshkti Sewa Samiti placed wreaths on the Shaheed Samarak in memory of the CRPF personnel who sacrificed their lives in the attack.

Last year, on February 14, over 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives when an RDX laden vehicle hit a bus in the CRPF convoy.

Ravi Kant Sharma, chairman of the Samiti, informed that former officers of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force were present on the occasion.

Lt General, S M Chaddha, Brig Ashok Haak, Brig Mahinder Mahajan, Brig SS Sinha, Col Shashi Vaid, A N Dhawan, chief patron of the samiti,  Col O P Batra, Col R K Bhardwaj, Col Ravi Wadhawa, Narendra Chopda, president of the Samiti, and other retired officers of Indian forces attended the ceremony.
