Gurugram: Suncity elects new RWA amid controversy

Gurugram: Amid controversy over the election, the residents of Suncity, an upscale township on Golf Course Road in Sector 54, Gurugram, elected its new Residents Welfare Association (RWA) team on Sunday.

The residents participated in the election and elected seven members of RWA team. The election was started at 10 am and it continued till 4 pm. Out of 330 members, 216 members casted their votes during the election held at the community centre.

The election was held for the post of president, general secretary, vice president, honorary secretary, senior vice president while the treasurer and joint secretary were elected unopposed.

The result was declared by retuning officer KS Yadav in the evening after counting.

Kuldeep Rana was elected as the President whereas Capt Rampal Yadav was elected as general secretary. Rajiv Harit was elected as treasurer, Prashant Sharma as vice president, Surinder Paul as honorary secretary, Chitresh Dutta as senior vice president and Taru Sharma as joint secretary.

While talking to CitySpidey, the newly elected RWA president Kuldeep Rana expressed his gratitude toward the residents for reposing their faith on him and expressed its commitment for the development of the colony.

“We are committed towards safe and beautiful Suncity. There are several areas that we would take up on a priority basis which include enhancing security of the colony, inducting security guards, installing CCTV camera and boom barriers and beautification of parks.”

Meanwhile, a group of residents were opposing the election calling it unconstitutional and unfair.

“We have filed the complaint on CM window over the fake membership, however, no action was taken by the district registrar. Within 48 hours, the returning officer announced the date of election. He did not follow the due process,” said VMK Singh, a resident.
