'One Stop Center' to help women in distress inaugurated in Gurugram

Gurugram: Divisional Commissioner of Gurugram, Ashok Sangwan on Monday inaugurated newly constructed building of One Stop Center (OSC) for helping women in distress. The center is located in Civil Lines near Nehru Stadium and is being operated by the department of women and child development.

Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Amit Khatri was also present during the inaugural ceremony.

On the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner Sangwan directed the concerned authorities of the women and child development department to take measures to promote the center so that the women, who are victim of domestic violence and other offenses against them, could avail the facilities at this center.

While explaining about the services available at the center, District Program Officer Sunaina apprised that this center provides free legal aid, health facilities, police related help to the victimised women.

Pinki Malik has been appointed as an administrator along with a panel of advocates from District Legal Service Authority (DLSA). Police woman, IT professional, psychiatrist and security guards have been appointed in this center. 

“Any women in distress can avail the facilities provided in the center. The aggrieved woman will be provided all the help and also given proper guidance to deal with her problem,” she said.

She further informed that awareness programs were being conducted at various places to make women aware about this one stop center. In this regard, meetings are being held with women police stations to refer the victimised women to this center. If the woman needs accommodation for a short period, that too is available at the center.

“We are carrying out awareness about the center and regular feedback is being taken from the women so that necessary steps can be taken in future. As many as 35 cases came in the month of January at this center whereas earlier only 7 women came in the month of December,” she added.

While explaining the functioning of the OSC, the Administrator Pinki Malik informed that any woman in need of help can contact helpline number – 1812 or 0124-2331100.

The OSC provides helps to woman victim of domestic violence, assault, rape, sexual harassment, emotional harassment, child marriage, female trafficking, dowry harassment, acid attack, cyber crime, abandoned woman and children, kidnappings and other crimes related to women.
