New Delhi: To provide last-mile connectivity to metro stations, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has joined hands with ETO Motors, a Hyderabad-based firm. The DMRC, in collaboration with the firm, will launch a fleet of 100 e-Rickshaws across four Delhi Metro stations.

A consortium led by ETO Motors, along with its partner Goenka Electric Motor Vehicles, has received an expression of interest (EOI) from the DMRC to kick-start the operation by March 20, 2020.

The four metro stations to get the services are Yamuna Bank, Sukhdev Vihar, Jamia Milia Islamia and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh.

As per the EOI, the consortium will follow certain guidelines issued by the DMRC which include providing a list of all e-auto models to be run from metro stations. The operator of e-rickshaws should also ensure that the drivers must wear a prescribed uniform, displaying valid ID card and name badge while in service.

Besides, all the drivers are supposed to possess a valid driving license and public service vehicle (PSV) badge. A project manager will be appointed to oversee the day-to-day operations of e-auto services.

With the launch of the e-rickshaw services in these four metro stations, around 25,000 passengers can avail a clean, safe and shared connectivity.
