Saya Zenith: Formation of AOA general body gets deferred

The formation of the AOA general body for the handover of Saya Zenith, Indirapuram, was deferred, as the number of residents that showed up failed to meet the quorum for meeting held on Sunday.

The meeting was held between homebuyers of Saya Zenith and representatives of Saya Homes, the builder. Only 82 flat owners of the total 450 turned up at the meeting. Manoj Jain, director (Finance) and a representative of Saya Homes, told City Spidey that the total number of buyers present at the meeting did not meet the quorum, as it required a third of the total flat buyers to be present.

A general body of residents was to be formed either by unanimous decision or by election, the date for which was to be decided at the meeting. Avinash Dave, a resident of Saya Zenith, told City Spidey that a rainy Sunday might have kept residents from attending the meeting. "Either that or people were out handling personal matters," said Dave.

The next meeting for the formation of the AOA was decided to be held on July 23. A quorum, however, was eliminated for the next meeting.

According to the model by-laws of UP Apartment Act:

"Adjourned Meeting—If any meeting of owners cannot be held for want of quorum, the owners who are present, may adjourn the meeting to a time not less than forty-eight hours from the time to original meeting was called. If at such adjourned meeting also, no quorum is present, the owners present in person being not less than two shall form a quorum."
