New Delhi: Kasturba Hospital was awarded by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) for strengthening the family planning programme. The hospital grabbed the first and second positions in the implementation of the programme.
The hospital achieved this distinction by commissioning a maximum number of 'Antara' injections and 'chaya' pills distribution, respectively. By doing so, it reinforced the standards and protocols issued by the state Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Department.
It needs a mention here that in 2017, the Centre had introduced the two new contraceptives in the public health system to expand the basket of contraceptive choices to meet the emerging needs of couples. Both the contraceptives are free of cost.
The awards were received by Dr Suman Lata Mendiratta, head of the department, obesity and gynaecology and Dr Rekha Rani, in-charge of Family Planning, at a workshop held in Delhi Sachivalaya on Tuesday.
