While sharing details of the marathon, Commissioner Akil said, “The aim of organising this event is to improve the health of women as running is considered the best exercise. It would provide a platform to the women to showcase their success and enhance gender equality.”

The marathon would include runs in 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42.2 km and one can register for any of these races online. Winners of these races would be given prizes of Rs 10 lakh. Girls above the age of 13 years can participate in this event.

Addressing the stakeholders, Akil said, “India can progress when all the countrymen are healthy. Thirdly, it will bring pride to the city and also help in Gurugram’s digital makeover worldwide.”

The Special Officer to Chief Minister said that the marathon would be flagged off from Cyber hub and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would be chief guest on the occasion. He said, “The route for this marathon would connect all iconic places of Gurugram so that the runners can see those places. The interested women participants should ensure registering themselves on the website by 5th March, 2020.”
