Encroachment on roads creates problem for commuters

New Delhi: Travelling in Vasundhara, New Kondli and Mayur Vihar phase 3 is a nightmare for commuters due to encroachment on roads. Fruit sellers and vehicles have encroached the roads which results in traffic jam during peak hours.

Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) of societies have been constantly complaining about the problem. They said when authorities carry out the encroachment drive, the hawkers and vehicle drivers disappear but encroach again few days later.

Convener of United Forum of Mayur Vihar phase three and Noida said, “It is very difficult to cover a 3 km stretch in peak hours. The local police has never taken a strong action against the encroachers. The encroachers give money to the police and again put up their carts on road.

Sonia Sharma, a resident of New Kondli, said, “The lane is so overcrowded making it difficult to travel with a scooty. The police should depute a picket in the surrounding area to ease the traffic movement.
