MCG sign board warns against construction activities near IAF ammunition depot

Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) put up a sign board to make people aware about restrictions on construction, building roads and developing colonies in 900-meter radius of the Indian Air Force ammunition depot in Sector 14.

The message on the sign board strictly prohibit any kind of construction activities within the restricted area of the ammunition depot. It states that this area falls under the restricted area of 54 ASP Air Force ammunition depot.

As per the orders of the Supreme Court and the High Court, any construction, building of roads and development of a colony is completely prohibited in the area.

It warns the people of action including demolition of the construction of such activities and a case to be filed against them.

Earlier this month, the MCG had initiated a survey to identify such buildings which are constructed in the restricted area. The apex court has also sought a report from the district administration on the action taken against such illegal establishments since 2014.

According to an MCG official, this has been done to make people aware that buying plots or properties in the restricted area is a violation of law and they should not fall prey to fraudulent property dealers.

"Damaging or removing information board installed in the restricted area of the ammunition depot is a punishable offense. Some of the boards have been damaged by some people. A case will be lodged against them in the police station concerned. The construction activities in the restricted area is prohibited." said an official of the MCG.
