New Delhi: While civic agencies are making efforts to make the beautify the city, anti-social elements play spoilsport. A case in point is Krishna Nagar area where general public is paying for damaged or stolen public property.

We have found such incidents in the area where there was no iron railing on a nullah near Krishna Nagar metro station. It was stolen by thieves.

Residents of the area say that a police picket is deployed just 100 metres away from the location. However, the police presence failed to secure the public properties. Not just railing, but the thieves have stolen poles too.

Hemlata, a resident of Krishna Nagar, said, “It is an open area and the metro station is nearby which is used by even children. The railing was there to protect children acted as a fence. As there is no railing to cover the nullah chances are someone might fall in it.”

She pointed out that fire hydrant cylinders too are missing. “We have complained about it to the DMRC and the police several times, but to no avail,” she lamented.
