Mobile science lab reaches out to Shahdara children

New Delhi: Under its campaign to educate children about science and technology, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), had introduced a facility of mobile science laboratory last year. On Monday, the lab reached Sahadara to educate children of EDMC schools. 

Under the supervision of area Municipal Councilor Kanchan Maheswari, children were taught the basics of science. The mobile science lab is equipped with basic tools of physics and chemistry. 

The children gathered at the lab parked in an open area for the whole day showed a keen interest in science. Four teachers were deputed to guide them. 

Speaking on the occasion, the area councillor, Mrs Maheswari, said, "Last year on the occasion of World Children's Day (November 20, 2019), we had launched the Mobile Science Lab at our In-service Teacher Training Institute (ITEI). The lab will reach out to approximately 1,800 students across 17 primary schools of the EDMC.

The initiative aims at inculcating an experimental learning environment and empowering educators to device creative ways to nurture the budding scientists. 

The bus has been developed by My Stem Lab and procured from the Mahindra Trucks and Buses Limited. More than 50 science teachers of class III to V have already been trained to conduct hundreds of carefully chosen experiments to help harness scientific knowledge and skills with hand-on activity. 

The lab facilitates environmental studies distributes STEM kits in MCD schools as it is equipped with various scientific instruments to simplify learning.
