Residents are in for some nail biting moments as election for Chairman's post is set for a close contest.

Stage is set for the election of Arun Vihar Resident Welfare Association (AVRWA), Noida, on Sunday. A total of 4,752 electorate will cast their votes.

Lt Col (retired) MS Matharoo and Col OP Mehta are locked in a straight contest for the post of Chairman. However, without a rival contender, Major PK Maini is set for a walkover for Vice President’s post .

AVRWA, a resident body of Sector 28, 29 and 37, has a total of 26 wards. Apart from Chairman and Vice President, the residents will elect a Director for each ward. Close contest is expected in four wards, 7, 11A, 16 and 18.

Since no nomination has been filed for director’s posts in Ward numbers, 2A, 12, 12A, and 15A, these positions will remain vacant. However, in wards, 1, 2, 3, 3A, 4, 5, 5A, 6, 6A, 8, 10, 11, 11A, 14, 14A, 15, and 17, candidates for Director's position are going to be declared elected unopposed. 

The polling will begin at 10 am and close at 1 pm. Results will be declared later in the day.
