Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gururgam (MCG), on Monday, demolished as many as 20 illegal structures and sealed 12 others within 900-meters radius of the restricted area of Indian Air Force (IAF) ammunition depot in Sector 14.
The action was taken by the enforcement wing of the MCG's Zone-2 led by Assistant Engineer Amit Kumar. Around 100 policemen, including junior engineers, Rohit Jakhar and Rakesh Kumar, were present during the drive.
As per the officials, the colony was being developed illegally in Om Vihar. The structures razed with the help of the JCB were under construction and damp proof course (DPC) etc. In addition, the civic body took action against illegal constructions in Satguru Farm and Dharam Colony.
“The Municipal Corporation also filed a case against Sheetla Properties and a person named Ram Avatar for developing an illegal colony in Om Vihar and selling a plot in a restricted area. The MCG is taking constant action against illegal constructions in the 900-meter restricted area,” said an official of MCG.
Notably, the Supreme Court and Punjab and Haryana High Court have completely banned any kind of new construction in the 900-meter restricted area.
Earlier, the MCG had installed boards in various locations in the vicinity to make the public aware of this direction and people have been warned not to buy plots, houses or shops in the restricted area.
Similarly, in another drive against the illegal structure, a team of Assistant Engineer Kuldeep Singh led by Joint Commissioner Hariom Atri reached the site and took an action. The enforcement team of Zone 3 razed two unauthorised structures in Galleria Market while sealed two under-construction buildings in Saraswati Vihar Colony.
