CBSE postpones Class X, XII exams in violence-hit northeast Delhi

New Delhi: Following a direction from the Delhi High Court, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rescheduled the board exams. The board confirmed that the examination for class X and XII in northeast has been postponed. The examination was scheduled for Wednesday. 

However, it clarified that in other parts the city the exam will be held as scheduled. 

On Wednesday, class X English paper and class XII web application/media paper were to be held at 86 centres in northeast Delhi, including private and government schools. The board said it would notify the new dates for the exam shortly. 

The notice issued by the CBSE read, “Based on the request of Directorate of Education and to avoid inconvenience to students, staff and parents, the board has decided to postpone the exam schedule for February 26 in northeast Delhi.”

State Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia had also requested the CBSE to reschedule the exams. All the government and private schools in northeast Delhi will remain shut on Wednesday.
