GB Nagar: It came to light through a reply to an RTI query that only 9,640 houses, out of a proposed 11,061, have been completed in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Vikas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U).
Ranjan Tomar, a city-based social activist, had sought details about the status of the flats under the PMAY from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in January this year.
The RTI reply revealed that the proposed 1,549 houses in Noida were complete. And, 1,421 houses were under construction in the district. All Noida city projects have been completed, the RTI said.
Talking to CitySpidey, Tomar said he had inquired about the status of PMAY scheme through RTI last year also but he filed this RTI in January particularly for Gautam Budh Nagar.
The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry on February 10, this year, had said that 32.07 lakh houses were constructed and delivered under the PMAY-U, out of the total sanctioned 1.03 crore houses.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was launched on June 25, 2015 with an aim to provide houses to all in urban areas by 2022.
As per the PMAY(U) guidelines, the size of a house for economically weaker sections (EWS) could be up to 30 square meter carpet area.
The programme includes the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), where the government provides interest subsidy of 6.5 per cent, 4 per cent and 3 per cent on housing loan amounts up to Rs 6 lakh, Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12 lakh respectively for beneficiaries belonging to economical weaker sections (EWS) or the lower income group (LIG), middle-income group-I (MIG-I) and MIG-II categories.
Notably, Migsun Twiinz in ETA 2, Ace Divino in Sector 1, Gaur City 7th Avenue in Sector 4 and Gaur City 14th Avenue in Sector 16 C in Greater Noida west are eligible for PMAY-Urban scheme.
