Dwarka: SDMC raises key issues with DDA; gets assurance for immediate action

Dwarka: In a meeting between Leader of the House, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Vice Chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Tarun Kapoor, several positive outcomes came which included installation of streetlights to eliminate dark spots, construction of foot over bridges, upliftment of roads and pruning of overgrown trees on sides of roads. 

Sehrawat along with SDMC officials and many RWA members reached out to the DDA VC to discuss the pertinent issues prevailing in the sub-city.

“The meeting was positive as assurances to address many issues came from the VC. We discussed the issues related to lack of required number of FOBs, installation of streetlights, repair of roads and footpaths and horticulture issues,” Sehrawat said.

Citing the safety of pedestrians, the delegation sought the status of proposals for construction of FOBs at key intersections in Dwarka. The DDA officials informed them that bid for construction of four FOBs have been received by them and final decision will be taken in a month's time.

The issues of dark spots, dangerously bent old streetlights and replacement with LED lights were raised in the meeting. “The VC assured action on all the issues raised by us. He said that the issue of dangerously bent poles will be addressed urgently. He also informed that 1,000 streetlight poles will be erected to take care of the dark spots in the area,” she said.

On the dilapidated state of roads in the sub-city, the DDA said that tenders for all roads including master plan roads have been invited and work on this front will be taken on war footing in the coming months.

The difficulties that people face due to overgrown tree branches on the roadsides were shared in the meeting. It was said that they restrict the visibility of signboards and needs pruning on urgent basis. The DDA said that heavy pruning requires permission from the forest department. Sehrawat informed, “We were assured that the DDA will seek permission for pruning of trees.”
