Residents of Dwarka on Tuesday participated in a tree-planting drive in the Sector 10 neighbourhood park behind Shiv Shakti Apartments.
SS Goel, a social worker and resident of IIT Engineers society, Sector 10, said, “We planted saplings and pledged to look after them. The important characteristic of this drive was that couples planted saplings and adopted them.”
The planting drive was carried out in the presence of the newly elected area councillor Ramesh Matiala and president of Dwarka Forum Madhury Varshney. The slogan of the drive was: "Let's plant a sapling and save our mother Earth."
Members of the managing committees of various societies in sectors 10 and 6 were also present. Residents from societies in Sector 10, such as IIT Engineers, Shiv Shakti, Bandhu Vihar, Chandan Bari, Thiruvza, Amba, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Panchsheel, Prerna and Park View participated in the event. From Sector 6, residents from Skylark, Daffodil, Karor and Katyayani socities were present. Some residents from sectors 4 and 3 also participated in the drive.
TR Bhalla, president of Bandhu Vihar society, TP Singh, president of Amba society, and Pradeep Bansal, a social worker and resident of Katyayani society, were also present at the event.
