Delhi: Though the threat of coronavirus is growing by the day with two positive cases in Delhi, doctors advised people not to panic.
The doctors have issued a set of dos and don'ts to protect yourself from the virus. One question that is intriguing the people about the deadly infection is what type of mask would provide 100 per cent protection from the virus.
The answer is N-95.
You heard it right, N-95 mask is the best among all the masks available in the market promising protection against coronavirus. Doctors and other health professionals generally use this mask. But one should not wear this mask for too long as it is fits on the face too tightly.
Director General of Delhi Government Health Department S N Raheja said while the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare advisory asks people to avoid going to public places, it is not easy to sit at home.
He said, “While going out, one should cover his/her mouth with a mask. N-95 is the best among all the masks. Common masks are not useful in preventing coronavirus.”
Masks should properly fit on the face. One should inhale through mask only else bacteria can enter into the body through nostrils.
Masks should be of three layers which are 80 per cent effective against the virus. The cost of such masks varies from Rs 200-500. It can be reused after washing. Do not wear a single layer mask or cover your mouth with handkerchief as it cannot stop the virus from entering into the body.
Highly risky people, who already have other respiratory diseases like chronic obstructive and pulmonary diseases (COPD), should use a six layer mask.
