Dwarka: Horticulture Department of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), with the community people from various sectors and societies here, organised a programme 'Save Environment' on Thursday. The aim of the programme was to spread awareness about the environment among children and adults.  

Held at Master Plan Green area, Sector 16C (known as Rose Garden), the programme drew children from the underprivileged section of Choti Si Khushi, an NGO working on education of underprivileged children. 

During a drawing competition held on the occasion, the children poured out their imagination on paper on the importance of the environment and its protection. The young participants received appreciation and certificates and trophies from various RWAs, NGOs, DDA Horticulture Department etc.

Deputy Director of Horticulture, Dwarka FS Chahar, delivering a lecture on environment, told the gathering how crucial it is to secure it for future generations. Ramesh Mumukshu, an environment activist, interacted with the kids about trees and their characteristics. 

Looking at the growing threat of coronavirus in Delhi-NCR, Madhu Dagar a local social activist, gave tips to the children and the community people on protection from the viral infection. She spoke on dos and don'ts as precaution against the dreaded virus.

Social activist and founder of Parmarthi Ek Prayatn (an NGO working on cleanliness in the area), Ravi Tandon of the Horticulture Department, Assistant Directors, Rajpal Singh and SR Bishnoi among other officials were present on the occasion. 

Ramneet Kaur and Namitha Chaudhary from Choti Si Khushi were active throughout the programme.
