Noida Authority revenue exceeds target, credit action against defaulters

Noida: Revenue collection by Noida Industrial Development Authority from water and sewerage service recorded a sharp rise in the ongoing financial year as compared to the preceding financial year. The revenue comes from residential, commercial and institutional organisations in the city.

Till last month, the revenue from water and sewage service stood at Rs 96.05, which is 22 per cent higher than what was collected last year. Rs 83.20 crore was collected during the preceding financial year.

Officials see the increased revenue as an outcome of stern action initiated against defaulters for clearance of dues from past many years. The authority had estimated to have collected Rs 60 crore from them.

However, what is intriguing is that the amount collected has already been much more than the target set for the ongoing financial year.

The officials said that they had served notices and initiated disconnection of water supply and sewage service to the defaulters. Following this, they came forward to clear the dues pending for the past several years.

The authority had also acted against all those institutions and organisations that had taken properties on rent from it. But they were not paying the rent on time and the amount of the pending dues went into crores.

Recovery certificates were issued by the authority against these defaulters following which they had cleared the dues of rents.

The officials disclosed that they collected Rs 30.88 crore against Rs 1.90 target of rent collection for the ongoing financial year.
