Praveer Kumar, senior IAS officer, on Wednesday, took charge as the chairman of the three cash-rich authorities of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development area. He replaced Rama Raman, who was the chairman and CEO of the three bodies. Raman, however, continues to be the CEO of the three authorities.
An officer of the 1982 batch, Praveer Kumar said that his focus would be different for all three authorities. He said that for Noida, his priority would be to maintain the drainage and sewage systems. Bringing Greater Noida on a par with Noida and further development of the Yamuna Expressway Authority would be his other priorities.
Kumar admitted that the circle rate of land was high in Noida and added that if the city could provide world-class facilities to residents, people would not mind investing and staying here. He said that facilities needed further improvements to attract more and more homebuyers to Noida.
He said parking continued to be a major hassle in Noida. He added that especially in industrial belts, parking lots had been created but were, for the most part, used for purposes other than parking. He added that he would hold meetings with industry owners and try to find a quick solution to ensure proper parking of vehicles and smooth passage of vehicular traffic in these areas.
The change in guard follows an observation from the Allahabad High Court while hearing two PILs. The court had asked the state government whether it had a dearth of good officers that Rama Raman was continuing in Noida for more than seven years now.
