It was a dark night for Dwarka residents...

An hours-long power cut made life miserable for Dwarka residents on Wednesday night. In sectors 18 and 19, residents allege that the power outage started around 10 pm and lasted the whole night. People staying in sectors 16, 17, 18 and 19 said that BSES officials could not be reached and the complaint number was of no help, as it was constantly busy.

Sunil Sareen, a resident of Bharat Vandana Apartments, Sector 19, Pocket 1, and joint secretary of Dwarka Forum, said, "We went through hell last night."

"Our generator stopped working after the first few hours," said Rakesh Dagar, a social worker and a resident of Crescent Apartments, Sector 18. "BSES should have made alternative arrangements, or at least sent prior notice so we could have all been ready."

"People gathered at the BSES office in Sector 13, protesting against BSES inaction," said SS Chowhan and Rakesh Godara, presidents of Radhika and Om apartments, Sector 14, respectively. "The only one present at the office was a supervisor. It was frustrating. We had no means of knowing till when the outage would last."

According to BSES officials, the power cut was a result of a strike by BSES maintenance and complaint staff.
