COVID-19: Massive awareness campaigns launched at railway stations

New Delhi: Indian Railways has geared up its entire machinery to take comprehensive measures on the prevention of COVID-19.

In order to create awareness about the virus, posters in regional languages have been stuck on the stations while pamphlets are being distributed to the passengers inside the trains, educating them about the prevention. Audio and video clips along with public announcements are also being played at the stations to spread awareness.

Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal has directed the Railway Board to ensure that adequate prevention measures are put in place across the Indian Railway system.

The department has also created a separate counter and ward for the patients with fever. Around 1,100 new isolation beds have been given and railway hospitals across India have identified 12,483 beds for quarantine. The hospitals have also been equipped with helplines and control rooms.

Along with this, the staff of the hospital and other stations have been instructed to inform about any suspected case to the authorities immediately.
