Gurugram: In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, demand for hand sanitisers and masks saw an upsurge. So much so that these essentials are either scarce or sold at prices higher than the normal market rates. To address the concern, Sare Homes organised a camp to distribute hand sanitisers at a subsidised rate.

Speaking to CitySpidey, Praveen Malik, RWA president of, the residential society in Sector 92, said with the news of COVID-19 spread hitting the headlines the hand sanitisers went missing from the market. Those stores which have stocked are overcharging in a bid to make the most of the rush.

“There is a huge shortage of masks and sanitiser in the market due to panic buying even as retailers and whole sellers are hoarding these items to pocket an extra buck. To meet this challenge, we engaged an agency to hold a camp in our society and sell sanitisers at a subsidised rate,” he disclosed.

As many as 150 bottles of hand sanitisers were provided to residents at a subsidised rate in society.

“At a time when the essentials have disappeared from the market, we tried to bring these to the doorstep of the residents. We are now planning another camp for masks next week. We have already provided masks to guards, housekeeping staff and educating them about the precautions to be taken against the disease,” added Malik.
