New Delhi: The Delhi government has declared coronavirus as epidemic on Thursday and announced all schools, colleges and cinema halls to remain closed till March 31 to contain its spread.

However, schools where exams are going on will remain open.

The Delhi government had closed primary schools earlier this month. However, the secondary classes remained opened due to exams.

"All cinema halls to remain shut in Delhi till 31st March. Schools and colleges where exams are not being held will also remain closed,” tweeted chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

"Disinfecting all public places, including govt, private offices and shopping malls, has been made compulsory," said the chief minister.

According to Ministry of of Health and Family Welfare, the number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 73 with 13 fresh cases, including one foreign national.

COVID-19 has swept across 114 countries of the world infecting as many as 1,18,000 and killing 4,291 people.
