Noida Authority takes steps to beat dengue

Noida Authority will now be cleaning up garbage twice a day from next week.

This initiative has been taken as a measure against the spread of dengue in the monsoons. Officials of Noida Authority said that they had ordered all restaurants, canteens, hotels and RWAs to dump their garbage at the nearest dumping zone. Officials also said that a violation of this order would lead to prosecution under the rules laid down by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

SK Gupta, project engineer of the health department, Noida Authority, told City Spidey that 14 JCB machines, 42 tractor-trolleys and 13 dumpers would be deployed to ensure the initiative's success.

"Noida Authority is also going to conduct cleaning and maintenance work of concrete drain pipes to prevent water from stagnating," Gupta added.

He also said that the drains would be treated with chemicals to curb dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
