Noida: No person, institution nor any organisation can use print, electronic or social media to inform about COVID-19 without prior permission from the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare as per the Uttar Pradesh Epidemic Disease, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.

As per order, any person who indulges in such activity will be penalised under Section 188 of the Indian Penal code (IPC). The move restricts the flow of false information, rumour, unauthenticated information regarding the pandemic.

The state government released a list of regulations under the Epidemic Disease Act, 1987 on Saturday which are to be abided by all. Following this, the district magistrate asked the residents of Gautam Budh Nagar to act responsibly and stay calm. The regulations are valid till April 30, until further order comes.

Sharing the notification and calling it quite effective and elaborate, DM BN Singh said, “Each resident is requested to go through and find about your responsibilities legally and otherwise”.

He further said, the administration is for the residents' support. Be calm and deal with the situation as it is and maturely. No need to worry.
