Doctors, nurses on duty for COVID-19 screening to get a daily allowance

New Delhi: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare approved a grant of special duty allowance to doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other support staff involved in health screening of international passengers for novel coronavirus. An official notification has been released to this effect. 

Deputy Director Amit Choubey said that the Government has approved certain allowances for the doctors and relative staff for the time being as part of preparedness against corona outbreak. Doctors, nurses and other support staff, who are involved in COVID19 screening, would be given the special allowance. 

For doctors, the allowance is Rs 300 per day, for nurses, it is 200 and for other paramedical allowance Rs 100.  Flyers kept in quarantine, on arrival at the airport, on suspicion of carrying the dreaded virus and would be served Rs 500 food per day. This will include snacks, lunch, brunch and daily meals. 

It may be noted here that the aforesaid allowance will be paid from the date of initiation of health counter only.
