Noida: There seems to be no end in sight to a dispute over gates at Sikka Karmic Greens, a highrise in Sector 78, Noida. The dispute took another turn on Tuesday when a group of shopkeepers forcibly locked the exit gate of the society.
The shopkeepers' grouse is that the residents had locked another gate that divides residential and commercial areas affecting their daily sales. They locked the gate in retaliation to the move.
They said, ''If we (shop owners) are facing inconvenience due to locking of the gate in the commercial area, they (residents) should also face the same problem.”
Though police was called to intervene in the matter, the issue could not be resolved as yet.
The residents have reportedly made phone calls to the developer of the society but he refused to come stating that it was their problem and they should resolve it amicably.
A residents' group said they told the shop owners that they had to lock the gate for security reason. But by locking the exit gate they had created a problem for them.
The group was determined to lodge a complaint with the Noida Industrial Development Authority, the land-owning agency, and urge them to look into the matter and resolve the dispute.
The exit gate, however, was opened later at night.
