The Delhi government has advised that everyone should get their vehicle disinfected every day.

New Delhi: In a further effort to ensure prevention of coronavirus spread among people travelling in public transport operating in Delhi, the Delhi government has initiated a disinfection drive.

As per the official information, the disinfection drive initiated on Tuesday and claimed to have got around 2,000 vehicles sanitised on first day. It included 1,182 auto-rickshaws and 194 e-rickshaws among many others. The disinfection of vehicles is being done at all the Delhi Transport Corporation and Cluster Bus Depots.

The government has also started the disinfection drive on vehicles like auto-rickshaw, gramin sewa, phat-phat sewa, maxi cab, eco-friendly sewa and other public service vehicles.

An official in DTC of Delhi government informed that the first shift of disinfection drive has scheduled from 10 am to 12 pm, whereas the second shift is from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

The official further told that to encourage private transport vehicles for carrying out disinfection drive, the government has decided to issue a certificate of disinfection for every sanitised vehicle.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot talking to the press said, “We are looking forward to catering more such public service vehicles in the upcoming days.” 

The Delhi government has advised that everyone should get their vehicle disinfected every day although this service is not mandatory for all.
