Paras Tierea: BMW recovered; trio held for faking loot for insurance claim

Noida: Police, on Wednesday, recovered the white BMW purported to have been looted and arrested three people including the complainant. The complainant, a resident of Paras Tierea in sector 137, had faked theft of the luxury car to claim insurance money.

On Sunday, Rishav Arora had filed an FIR in Phase 2 police station complaining that the car he was driving was looted by three unidentified men on a gunpoint while he had pulled over to urinate near Sector 90 on late Saturday night.

Rishav, in his complaint, had also informed that the car was owned by his brother-in-law and he borrowed it from him for just five-six days.

According to the police, Rishav’s brother-in-law, Mukesh Arora, had bought the BMW on a loan of Rs 45 lakh last year. Unable to pay up the EMIs for the car, Mukesh, together with his friend Sumit Gahlotra and Rishav plotted to fake the loot on March 14 with an eye on the insurance money on the car.

The police smelt the rat after tracing Mukesh in Noida on the day of the incident while Rishav had said his brother-in-law was in Mumbai. The suspicion grew when no proof of the loot was established. This prompted the police interrogated Rishav. During the interrogation, he spilled the beans.

Rishav told the police that after pulling over the car near Sector 90, he handed it over to his brother-in-law who was already waiting for him with Sumit in a Skoda car.

Following the revelation, the police arrested Mukesh and his friend Sumit from Delhi’s Sanik Farm area and recovered the BMW with a fake number plate from Amrapali Zodiac in sector 120.

CitySpidey had spoken to a few residents of Paras Tierea when the news of carjacking was making rounds. Interestingly, they had claimed that it was fake news. According to a source, even the police officials who came to get the CCTV footage knew that it was a conspiracy.

DCP air similar views on a video but assured that they were considering all the angles in the case including the loot. The police had also made it clear that it was an insider’s work from the word go.

A resident, on condition of anonymity, told this reporter that a stolen car came to Paras Tierea on Sunday morning, not looted from the Phase 2.
