Amrapali homebuyers enlist AAP MP's support for stress fund

Noida: Beleaguered homebuyers of Amrapali approached Sanjay Singh, MP and member of the urban development drafting committee, for support to the allocation of stress fund for the revival of all the stalled group housing projects of the developer.

The cash-strapped developer is badly in need of fund to resume construction for its projects in Noida and Greater Noida West.

A three-member delegation of the homebuyers, comprising of Shweta Bharti, Sujata Singh and Deepankar Kumar, on Wednesday, called on the AAP MP at his North Avenue residence in New Delhi and urged him to raise their demand rise in Parliament during Zero Hour to draw the government's attention to their grievances.

The delegation pointed out that the Supreme Court, July last,  had entrusted National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC), a public sector Navratna enterprise, the task of completing the stalled projects. But due to fund crunch, the NBCC could not undertake the construction as yet.

Bharti told CitySpidey that they as representatives of the homebuyers had pleaded for the stress fund for long. But when the government finally came up with the stress fund, their projects were left out of the scheme.

''We have been running from pillar to post pleading with the Centre and the state for the announcement of the stress fund, yet deprived of the benefit from the scheme,'' she lamented.

There are, altogether, eight to nine group housing projects of the aforementioned developer in Greater Noida, where construction has not been undertaken due to shortage of fund. The homebuyers are not ready to make any more payment fearing non-delivery of possession.

''Some cleaning work has started at Amrapali Centurian Park, a low rise group housing project in Greater Noida West. The project is complete except for fabrication work. But the rest of the projects are still awaiting action,'' added Bharti.

After giving a patient hearing, Singh assured the delegation that he would try to raise their concern in case he gets time in Parliament. But he promised to put their issue before the draft committee of the Department of Urban Development as a member.
