OPD services curtailed at AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital amid corona scare

New Delhi: In important meetings held on Wednesday at Safdarjung Hospital and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), decision was taken to curtail OPD services in view of the increasing threat of coronavirus infection.

The AIIMS has started sending messages or SMSs on registered number of patient to postpone their earlier appointment for treatment. AIIMS issued a notice saying, “If it is not urgent in nature stay at home and do come later, for your safety and good health.”

Safdarjung hospital also curtailed OPD services from 8 am to 10.30 am only. It also postponed all planned surgeries.

The administrations are trying to hold the OPD rushes to avoid any such avoidable infection through community transmission. Only accidental and highly urgent cases are advised to come in hospital.

Meanwhile, AIIMS administration has also organised an important meeting, and decision was taken to postpone prior appointments for AIIMS. SMSs have been sent to registered patients. All given dates have been postponed for one month.

These all are a part of precautionary measure for coronavirus' second phase, which can be community transmission.
