Noida: After heated exchange of words with shopkeepers over closure of the exit gate, residents of Sikka Karmic Greens, a highrise in Sector 78, Noida, went ahead to lodge an FIR with city police against them.

Residents complained that the gate was closed forcibly on March 18 by them (shopkeepers) and after that, they reopened it in the previous night.

Around 10 residents had gathered at the Sector 49 police station with a copy of application, demanding lodging of complaint against all those shopkeepers creating inconvenience for them by closing the exit gate of the society.

Residents told that they turned back home from the station as the police cited that it is civil matter. They said, “We were suggested by the police that we should meet City Magistrate as it is civil matter.”

Further, they said that they were planing to meet him (City Magistrate) but Section 144 of CrPc, prohibition of mass gathering, was imposed in the city. Residents said that they want the exit gate to remain open for their convenience.

Rounds of altercations have happen between residents and shopkeepers in past three days after it started on March 17, the day on which shopkeepers locked the exit gate, claiming that closure of another gate in the commercial areas affected their sales in past few months.

Residents had also called on police helpline twice to inform the about the altercation. They (police) also came to intervene in the matter. Residents told that the exit gate was opened on March 18, when police were present.
