Societies sensitise residents in preparation for them for janata curfew

Noida: Having effectively implemented some precautionary measures and disinfected common areas, office-bearers of various RWAs here, on Friday, launched an awareness drive to sensitise fellow residents about the threat of Covid-19. They will also prepare the residents to participate in ‘janata curfew’.

The janata curfew is a day-long self-imposed confinement by one and all to ward off the dreaded virus. The concept was devised by none other than Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi.

Sunday (22 March) is scheduled for the observance of the janata curfew.

In compliance with the social distancing formula envisaged by Modi, the RWAs are using social media messengers to communicate with the residents about the gains from the janata curfew.

S Singh, a resident of Prateek Laurel, a highrise in Sector 120 said the residents were being communicated about the outcome that adherence of social distancing and self-quarantine would bring if implemented properly. They are advising the residents not to come out of their homes after going in on Saturday evening or night. Wait till the janata curfew lasts on Sunday late evening.

He said they have learnt that life of coronavirus spans from four hours to three days on different substances like on copper, cardboard, plastic and stainless steel. ''Considering this, I would say janata curfew is a scientific approach. If we stay indoors for at least 36 hours, the virus would automatically go away or finish,'' he averred.

Maximum highrises have arranged sanitiser at entry gate for use before entering the societies and also sprinkling anti-virus chemical to disinfect common areas. Many of them strictly prohibited entry of boys delivering couriers, parcels and food ordered from restaurants. They deployed e-carts that pick up and drop it to residents in their respective societies.

D K Singh, president of Grand Aznara Heritage, another residential society in Sector 74, said he made an appeal to all the residents, especially senior citizens, not to come out unless it’s necessary and adhere to janata curfew.

''We have been encouraging resident to take a pledge to participate in social distancing and janata curfew,'' he informed.
