Residential colonies wear deserted look as Noida observes janata curfew

Noida: Almost all residential colonies of Noida wore a deserted look on Sunday after self-imposed janata curfew following a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Residents of the colonies pledged to fight the dreaded coronavirus by self-isolation.

An appeal to observe janata curfew was made by PM Modi on March 19 following which thousands of Indians took to twitter and supported his idea of a one-day lockdown.

The resident welfare associations (RWA) of Noida circulated messages among their residents to stay indoors and observe isolation on Sunday. Many of them even came up with different approaches and requested individuals to spend time with family and children.

Many of the RWAs also sent away their security guards and locked gates of the society restricting entry and exit of the residential areas.

Meanwhile, markets, malls, restaurants and public places were shut while air and rail transport services had been suspended in India on Sunday.

Here are glimpses of residential colonies which largely remained deserted on Sunday.
