New Delhi: With 77,240 coronavirus cases and 2,492 deaths, Delhi is the worst hit city in India. Amid the recent spike in number of cases, the Delhi government has ramped up the testing in the national capital.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that highest number of coronavirus tests were conducted on Friday. He informed that the testing has been increased by four times in the city.
“Delhi conducted highest no of tests in a single day yesterday- 21,144 We have increased testing 4 times Delhi now following strategy of very aggressive testing and isolation (sic),” Kejriwal said in a tweet.
Earlier this week, the number of cases crossed 70,000 mark in Delhi surpassing Mumbai to become worst affected city in the country.
Moreover, the government has introduced an eight-point ‘Revised COVID Response Plan’ which has been developed according to the recommendations of Dr VK Paul committee to contain the spread of coronavirus in the city.
The authorities will launch mammoth exercise to determine the spread of coronavirus in the city. They will launch sero-surveillance study of people which includes house-to-house screening.
The exercise will be done by the Delhi government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) between June 27 and July 10.
